How did you attract/address your audience?

My magazine appeal to my target audience because of the way it looks and speaks to the audience. I have annotated my front cover, contents page and double page spread in another post on via flickr to highlight different aspects and how they attract my target audience.

Throughout the production process I asked for feedback from my audience so I knew what to do next and how perhaps to improve my product. From my feedback I improved my front cover by adding more coverlines to fill the page up. To improve my contents page I got some improvement feedback to change the angle of some pictures and also to change one of the pictures all together as it was not of good quality. To improve my double page spread i put a website on the bottom, and also from my feedback i found that i had a spelling mistake so i fixed that also. All of this improvement can be seen on my progression Powerpoints via Slideshare on the 'I' posts.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Here is an image of stereotypical people who would be interested in buying my magazine.

The Demographic profile for my magazine is:
Female-80%
Male-20%
Majority age range- 16-20
Psychographic profile
Aspirers who also like to be individual
Life style/Subculture
Rock/punk

Here is the reader profile of my magazine which shows the stereotypical reader's interests.
Music will be a big part of their lifestyle and they will spend money buying musical gadgets and also going to music festivals, but also they will be very conscious of their appearance so will be interested in fashion also so will have lots of fashionable brands in their wardrobes and shop at 'fashionable' shops.
They won't have lots of money to spare so when choosing to have something to eat they will want something that is quickly prepared and cheap(fast food places).
They also will be up to date with technology as they are young adults and will have all the latest gadgets. in addition to this they will use the Internet and undoubtedly use social networks such as Facebook.

My target audience will want to by my magazine because it will be a fashionable new magazine that will appeal to their interests and will include articles that they will be able to relate to. It will feature the genre of music that they listen to and also the language will appeal to them. The information will be not be complex and a lot of the time will be image based as from research i have found lots of information puts young adults/teenagers off reading it.

The sorts of products that will be advertised in my magazine will be the latest gadgets, fashionable shops and music based products such as ipods and headphones. Also a festival could be advertised on a page in my magazine. All these things could be advertised in my magazine because they appeal to my target audience, all of the products in my reader profile above have the potential to be advertised in my magazine because the interest the readers and therefore the advertising companies will want their products advertised somewhere where their target audience are going to see them.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My magazine is targeted at individuals who do not like being the same as everyone else. I am targeting females as I think there is a gap in the market for a girl's rock magazine, presently the majority are aimed at males. I am targeting my product at mainly females but also males aged between 16-20 who are interested in the genre of alternate rock.

Here are two images, my image is on the top which is featured on my contents page, and the bottom image is from a different magazine on a contents page too. There are many similarities but also differences between the images.

Both images show a male band performing a song, their posture and facial expressions are similar and from this we can tell that both image are natural and were not set up. The instruments that both bands are using are similar as they have electric guitars and a drum set. In addition to this both photographs are medium long shot, this allows the shot to focus on their relaxed body language but at the same time their facial expressions are visible. Both images use artificial lighting to help light up the artists, also the backgrounds are quite clustered which makes the image look less formal which is appropriate for the type of magazine because both magazines target young adults. Both images represent the make gender, which have different purposes in each magazine, in my magazine it could be for the girls to admire but in the other magazine(that is aimed at mainly males) the males could act as a role model for audience to look up to. The angle of both shots are slightly low angle(more on the bottom image) this is to make the bands look dominant and powerful over the viewers, which can make them seem more confident to the readers. Furthermore, in both images the band have objective gazes which makes the image look less set up and almost suggests that they are too 'cool' to look into the camera when performing.
